When I went to the J-POP Summit Festival this year, I stayed at the HOTELTOMO! in San Francisco’s Japantown. Being that the hotel sits near the center of Japantown, it is appropriately Japanese themed. The hotel is conveniently located only a block away from Peace Plaza and the NEW PEOPLE building which are the centers of the J-POP Summit Festival.
The hotel is a joie de vivre property and has a small boutique hotel feel to it. It features nice clean decor with hints of a manga theme highlighted throughout. Overall my room felt a bit dated, but it was spacious, clean, comfortable, and its location can\’t be beat. The bed is very comfortable but the towels need to be changed out as they are worn. The walls are a bit thin, so you can hear your neighbor at times if they are loud. Water pressure is good, hot water took only a second to flow. My two-night stay averaged out to be about $180 with tax per night.
If you’re visiting San Francisco and looking to stay in Japantown, this place is worth taking a look at.
